Chas Carner

Founder & Executive Producer

Chas is a New York-based writer for print, television and other media. He is the author of the award-winning YA novel Tawny, The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark, Venicewalks and Navigating Venice. While attending Dartmouth College, he won the prestigious Sidney Cox Prize for his short story “Septembers”, and earned certification as a high school English teacher. Since then, he has served as president of the Dartmouth College Alumni Council, chaired the Alumni Magazine’s editorial board, and for the college’s previous capital campaign he wrote and produced the Cine Golden Eagle-winning documentary, Mentors. As a member of the Calhoun School Board of Trustees, he installed New York City’s first curriculum-integrated GreenRoof. In 2010, to honor his English teacher, he endowed an annual creative writing competition for students of Hudson, NH’s Alvirne High School; twice a year he returns there to teach classes, run workshops and present cash prizes to winners of the Barbara Kahn Award. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, Cynthia; they have one daughter.
